This reading comprehension activity, ‘Understood Betsy’ asks students to answer questions about a story in which an orphan girl is cared for by her father’s aunt and cousin. It is aimed at increasing students’ awareness of semantics and encourages students to recall information, form opinions and think about word meanings.
