The challenge set by the teacher in ‘Trying Times’ is to work out the 15 times table using several different methods. Students learn from the examples given then go on to complete their own 15 times table challenge without resorting to familiar vertical algorithms. An answer sheet is provided and includes teaching notes to support the use of different strategies for solving the problems.
