This reading comprehension activity, ‘Toby’s Best Birthday’ asks students to answer comprehension questions about a story in which a young boy thinks that his family has forgotten his birthday. It is aimed at developing students’ awareness of semantics and encourages them to think about a character’s feelings, the main conflict and literary elements.
