This reading comprehension activity, ‘The Saver’ asks students to answer comprehension questions about a story in which a girl and her mother clear out her room to make room for her new baby brother or sister. It is aimed at developing students’ awareness of semantics and encourages them to recall information and the central idea, as well as to think about text conventions, such as using italic type to show what should be read with more feeling.
