This reading comprehension activity, ‘The Cross-Current’ asks students to answer questions about a poem written by Abbie Farwell Brown in which the speaker feels she is different from her ancestors. It is aimed at increasing students’ awareness of semantics and encourages students to recall information, make comparisons, form opinions and think about word meanings.
