The hands-on activity, ‘A Whale of a Time’ gives instructions for making a whale shape that can be tessellated. The whale shape is made by using the properties of triangles and half-side rotations. This is a fun way to explore tessellations, and the accompanying teaching notes have suggestions for further exploration.
The learning activity, ‘Sea Symmetry’ provides illustrations students can complete by using reflection symmetry. In the process, students learn how to use the line of symmetry to find the reflection. An answer sheet is provided and includes accompanying teaching notes with suggestions for supporting learning and further exploration.
