This reading comprehension activity, ‘Helpful Tips for Camping Trips’ asks students to answer comprehension questions about camping, preparation and safety. It is aimed at developing students’ awareness of semantics and encourages them to look critically at the language used in an informative text in order to ascertain the meaning and usage of individual words and phrases. It also encourages students to draw conclusions and form opinions, as well as think about text conventions, such as how sections make it easier for readers to find particular information.
