Detailed description
In the learning activity ‘Calculation Chains’ a chain is used as a model for demonstrating the changes that take place as a series of operations are performed on the numbers at the start of long chains. Students must work out how each number in the chain has been transformed, using a variety of strategies. They may use a calculator to check and support their thinking. An answer sheet is provided and includes comprehensive teaching notes for supporting learning and further exploration.
